Gold Coast

Gold coast is known for a lot of things but one of the biggest land marks is the John Hancock Building. This Structure is 100 stories tall and is best known for its external block X-bracing. On the 95th floor of this massive structure you will find the Signature Room, a five star restaurant that has views of the city as well as Lake Michigan. One floor below there is an observation deck. The views from the 94th and 95th floors are breath taking. The Gold Coast community prides itself on keeping everything up to date and looking Beautiful.
Throughout the year the chamber puts together fundraisers to raise money to put towards the look of their community. In the spring they hold, Echoes which is a fund raiser. In the summer the put together Astor which is another annual event; it is a block party in hopes of raising money. The Gold Coast River North Art Fair is the largest art fair in the Midwest. It is a huge fair with fine arts, music and food. The fair is commonly known as the “Grand Daddy” of art fairs.
The shopping in the Gold Coast is what this town is all about. You will find stores like, Diesel, Urban Outfitters, Adidas, Puma, Anthropology, Barney’s New York, Bang, fendi, Prada, Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and the list goes on. Besides these one-off street store fronts, you will have The Water Tower Mall. All of these shops are part of the Magnificent Mile. Mixed between this Mecca shopping district you will find some of the best restaurants in Chicago.
The Gold Coast is filled with a very high concentration of restaurants and bars. Many of them are located on the famed Rush Street. Rush is a densely packed area known for its energy and its lights, Rush is awake long after the Loop has gone to sleep. To help you understand how densely populated this area is let me name a few restaurants and bars that we recommend:  Tavern on Rush, Carmine’s, Gibson’s, Bistrot Zinc, Morton’s Steakhouse,  PJ Clarke’s, Hugo’s Frog Bar, The Back Room, Luxbar,Level, Hunt Club, Dave and Buster’s, Johnny Rockets, Big Bow, Cheesecake Factory, and let us not forget the Gold Coast Dogs.
Its boundaries are now defined as North Avenue and Division Street on the north, Chicago Avenue on the south and Clark and Franklin Streets on the west, and Lake Michigan/Oak Street Beach on the east. In the summer time the beach is filled with people doing summer sports or just laying out relaxing.
Getting around is easy, the Red line has several stops, and the Buses are on all major streets.
